Affordable Health Care : The lack of affordable health care is one of the primary reasons why our services are needed. The Center has found that hypertension and diabetes are among the greatest problems affecting older citizens. Many of the new arrivals are also in need of health care. Our participants depend on the resources, translation and transportation services the Center provides. By connecting participants to resources where they can pay less for doctors’ visits, lab work and drugs, or sometimes obtain free services, as well as reducing the need for emergency room care, our program provides them with needed extra income.
The population we serve continues to struggle in this tough economy. Clients often don’t understand about the social services for which they are eligible and don’t know how to navigate the system to obtain them. Program like food stamps, one time relief for rental and utilities assistance, family care assistance, and SSI can be extremely useful for someone in need. CHC has developed a successful approach to helping people secure immediate assistance through the social security and social services program.
Caribbean Help Center provides food services to fight poverty in the Montgomery County area. We are working in partnership with Manna Food Center and various organizations to help our clients.
Prevention is an integral part of our health care delivery program. We believe that health education is fundamentally essential to improve the well-being of our clients, their families and the community we serve. Caribbean Help Center provides preventative health care services, medical care linkages, and referral through health education including brochures and video educational sessions.
Caribbean Help Center provides information through a minimum of 3 workshops yearly to educate our clients concerning the importance of health care, immigration, and vital public resources program in the community.
